ARES/RACES NEWSLETTER

September 22, 2007

Hope everyone is enjoying the Weather and like most of us are doing the yard duties getting ready for the fall.

ARES/RACES didn't hold a meeting for September but the regular scheduled meeting will be held on October 13, and we hope to see you.

ARRL 2007 Simulated Emergency TEST (SET)

The ARRL Simulated Test is a nationwide exercise in communications, administered by ARRL Field Organization Leaders including Emergency Coordinators, District Emergency Coordinators, Section Emergency Coordinators  and Net managers.

The Mason County ARES/RACES will participate on Sept 29th.  ARE you ready? Do you have your emergency communications ready for a test? Are you mentally prepared to step up and  take over as a NCS or take and receive messages?

All Hams are requested to join this exercise and participate.  Do you know someone who is a ham and not  registered with ARES/RACES?  Help us to get them signed up and join in with the exercise.  Know someone who might like to be a ham? Invite them over and show them what you do! Contact Sandie Woog if someone needs to sign up a ham not on the current roster or to make sure they are on the roster.

This should be a fun experience for all of us! Everyone will be involved so get ready to get on the radio and participate.  Those of you that have been a Ham operator for a good while get on the air and be an ELMER by example. I personally look forward to some examples from those experienced Hams, because there is no better way to learn.

Please pay close attention to Sunday night Net as there will be announcements and on all future Nets about this event and you will be receiving via email also.

Mark the 29th on your calendar.  Now I gave you the day so have your radio on I hope to hear you all on the radio.
