Mason County ARES® Newsletter
February

During the last meeting held in January for the ARESâ Group applications were handed out to reregister all members. (For those who did not attend and haven’t filled out an application there will be an attachment to this email) Omer has made new cards with pictures and they are laminated. The new I.D. cards will handed out at the next meeting. Many thanks go to Omer for the professional job done on these new ARESâ cards. Omer is asking for volunteers to take a turn at the District Three net for NCS as Mason County has the Duty for the month of March.

Training Refresher

Omer presented as our training refresher a story about the operator who had not been activated by any of the local agencies and found himself in a self activation environment.  The ARESâ operator helped the refugee’s in his area by sending health and welfare messages from his vehicle. The demand for his services became so large that other operators came in to help and the RED CROSS set up a canteen station next to him.  The story was a wonderful reminder of how the ARESâ operator is always available to perform and execute their skills as a volunteer in the community.
