Mason County ARESâ Newsletter
January

We are off to a running start for the New Year after the first meeting of Mason County ARESâ.  If you missed the meeting the EC, Omer Fournier gave us an idea of the structure of ARES and how he planned to implement those ideas.  Omer stated that in the future he would not allow personal conflicts to take place during our meetings. He distributed to everyone the definition of what the Radio Amateur is:  I will add this at the end of the Newsletter.

The New Net Schedule from George N7NTV for 2008 was handed out along with the Preamble.  Members were encouraged to take a preamble and follow along when listening to the Net.  If anyone is interested in doing a net you are encouraged to contact George N7NTV, Omer AD7DY, or Sandie KE7KKU.  Anyone of the three will get you the information.  If someone wants a copy of the handouts let me know.

Mark AA7CG was appointed AEC for the EAST  and we wish to thank him for stepping up and volunteering.

Our next Meeting is February 9th so hope to see all of you there. There will be some important discussions along with giving everyone new official ARESâ Membership cards.

Many people have been checking into the District 3 Net and a very big “thank you” to those of you who have made the effort.  District Three Net control stations have made mention of the large turnout from Mason County.

Mark asked for people who would want to take Shelter Training from the RED Cross as he was setting up a class.  This training would be beneficial to all ARESâ Members in time of Emergency.  This is an area that ARES TEAM MEMBERS do provide assistance with during emergencies.

The March Meeting will be changed to accommodate the Ham FEST on the 8th (our normal meeting date) to the third week in March on the 15th.

April 5th and 6th is the Communication Academy and will be held at the South Seattle Community College in West Seattle.  The Title for 2008 is "The Next Disaster is Ready for You! - Are You Ready For It?"

Thank you for being a volunteer!
